Oh Deer

Driving home after golf, a very very unfortunate deer decided to launch in front of the Explorer. It was an immediate impact, almost like the deer appeared out of thin air – and as later the police and insurance adjuster noted, the old Ford held up quite well. Nothing on the front end is particularly well attached at this time, but it still runs just fine. Few modern SUVs would have held up this well.

Just replaced this grille a year ago.. and boom, its trashed now.

No word on repairs just yet. The body shop is very backed up with jobs (maybe because no one seems to know how to drive anymore). The adjuster also noted that she was seeing an abnormally high number of deer strikes this summer.. so it could be a while before the Explorer is pretty-ed up again. Or safe to drive at night – currently it is not, with its googly eyed headlights.
